Nieuws van TMV

Ik ben best trots dat ik agent ben van Tulbagh Mountain Vineyards, een winery die aan het begin staat van grote roem. In Wine Spectator januari 2007 staan twee beoordelingen:

South Africa's success with Syrah continues to grow, and the grape is now firmly entrenched as a leading variety, along with Cabernet Sauvignon, for red wines. In addition, South African vintners are showing a growing interest in other Rhône varieties, both red and white. For the most part, the wines show a combination of New World fruit with Old World elegance and minerality. Here's a selection of new releases, led by Rudi Schultz's small-production gem. One to keep an eye on is Tulbagh Mountain Vineyards, a newcomer led by winemaker Chris Mullineux.

TULBAGH MOUNTAIN VINEYARDS Syrah-Mourvèdre Tulbagh 2004
90/100
Nice Syrah-driven notes of black cherry and mineral, along with good smoke, game, tobacco, olive and mineral hints. Rich, smoky finish shows power and purity. Fine length too. Drink now through 2008. 1,175 cases made. —J.M.

TULBAGH MOUNTAIN VINEYARDS Viktoria Western Cape 2005
88/100
Nice focus, with red and black currant fruit framed by vanilla, sanguine and mineral notes that linger through the finish. Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now. 1,830 cases made. —J.M.
